Furine develops, manufactures, and sells innovative devices for use in Faecal Management and in Skin Care. In bridging the gap between customer needs and the solutions we provide we build on our competences within Industrial Design and Polymer Technology.


Located in Skaevinge, Denmark, we sell our Disposable Medical Devices globally through our local network of distributors, reaching health care professionals in most of the world.


Our External Faecal Catheter for use on patients with faecal oozing is the first of its kind in the world.

Company History

Furine ApS was founded in 2016 by Brian T. Nielsen and Helene K. Hjenner. Together, they saw the need for a Faecal Management System attached to the skin and not secured endo-rectally.


Our External Faecal Catheter was launched in 2019 as the first non-invasive faecal catheter on the market designed to collect liquid, oozing stool.


During 2021, Furine signed its first distribution agreement. Together with partners, Furine has launched the product internationally. As we expand globally, we continuously seek to build our network of partners.

The Story Behind Furine

With a background in the Disposable Medical Device industry, Brian T. Nielsen has developed and launched various external medical devices for more than two decades.


Prior to the founding of Furine, Brian worked on a disposable device for Urinary Incontinence (an External Male Catheter). It was during this period the idea of developing an External Faecal Catheter emerged.


Helene and Brian met via a project targeting a wound care device. When Brian disclosed the idea within faecal oozing and skin care, they decided to join forces in bringing a product to the market. Today Brian runs the daily business while Helene is the Chairman of the Board.
